DreamWeaver presents a beginners There Stylemaker Tutorial

For the past few years I have been teaching newbie designers to design, and how to use the There Stylemaker.

Since the tutorial I wrote for the old StyleMaker has been removed from the There Developer section, I decided it was

time to create a new one.

I will place pictures in a photo gallery, and write what to do within that.

Read all of this tutorial BEFORE you do ANYTHING.  Once you have read it

once or twice, then follow the directions to use the StyleMaker.

First open your StyleMaker.  I am assuming you have signed up to be a There Developer, and have downloaded the program.

I also assume you have an editing program such as PhotoShop, Paint Shop Pro, or GIMP.

To be a designer, you must have these programs.  It is best you know how to use them before attempting to design

any There products.

Click on File. This brings up your first window for configuration.

Click on thumbnail picture to bring up a larger view please...

Click on File

When you click on file, this window will pop up. It is the Welcome to the New Outfit Wizard. Click Next.

When you click next, it will bring up this window.

You will now have a choice to make either male or female.

Female is what you have chosen.

Click on Next.

Your first choice is Female Hairstyle Configuration.

You will have choices of: None which will make your avie headless, Baseball Cap, Beanie, Newsboy Hat, or the Rasta Hairstyle. Choose the Rasta Hairstyle. Choose the higher of the two resolutions which is the 128 x 64. This enables more detail on the template.

Click on Next.

This brings up the Female Glasses Configuration.

Choose None for this tutorial. However, there are several choices for this configuration.

There is: None

Groovy Glasses

Neo Glasses

Nerdy Glasses

Racer Goggles

and Retro Glasses

If you decide to put one of these type of glasses on your avie, a texture will appear, and you will be able to create a texture map for it. When doing any of the glasses always pick the higher resolution for the finest detail.

Click on Next.

Female Head Configuration is now brought up.

The head has only two choices. None or Standard. Pick standard, unless you want her to be headless. There is no choosing a texture size.

Click Next.

Female Top Configuration

Once you begin to become more aquainted with Stylemaker, you can play with the different templates available for tops. Tops have a lot of configurations. We will work with a top that does not have to have a skintone painted upon it or use Transtone.

The tops available are:

None (use this when you don't want the top to show)

Custom Fitted Top

Bell Sleeve Midriff

Cap Sleeve T-Shirt

Halter Top

Long Tanktop

One Shoulder Top

Racer Jacket

Tankini

For this tutorial pick Custom Fitted Top. This probably the configuration you will use the most.

For all high resolution tops, choose 512 x 256

For low resolution top, use 256 x 128.

I always use the high res for outfits that need or use a lot of detail. If an outfit does not need the detail, use the lower res. I have chosen the high res. *Note if you click on Browse, it will bring up a window for you to choose a texture out of. This should be where you keep and save your textures. I create mine in Program File, There, then ThereStylemaker.

Female Top Configuration 2

Now you have a choice of making a collar style. Use Dance for this tutorial. You can choose from Bare, Hoody, Dance, Buttoned, Nehru, Mockneck, Turtleneck, and V-Neck. Personally I use the Mockneck since we can create cleavage and necklaces wiith on it. With the Dance neckline, you don't have to worry about transtone or creating skintones.

Arms: You can choose from Bare, Three Quarter, Full Fitted, Oxford, High Cap, and Bell Sleeves. We will use the High Cap sleeve. You will not have to use skintones or transtone with that sleeve.

Chest: This is always fitted.

Abdomen: Choose Fitted, but experiment if you want to see what happens. I NEVER use the Overhang.

Hands: We will use Bare. I use Basic Gloves, but with Bare you don't have to worry about skintones or transtone.

Configuration for Female Bottoms

Your choice are: Custom Fitted Bottoms, Bermuda Shorts, Bikini Bottoms, Board Shorts, Body Shorts, Capri Pants, Chaps, Flare Pants, Hot Pants, Long Pants, Pencil Skirt.

Choose Custom Fitted Bottoms.

Texture: Choose 256 x 512 for high res, and 128 x 256 for low res. For this use the higher res.

Pelvis: Skirt, Hip Skirt, Hip Shorts, and Shorts are your choices. For this tutorial use Shorts.

Upper left and right: Bare, Pocket, Full, and Bike are available. Choose Bare so you don't have to use skintones or transtone.

Lower Left and Right: Bare, Rave, Rolled, Slacks, Capris, Tube Socks, Full Fitted. Use Bare again for the same purpose.

Click Next, and we are almost done...

Female Shoes Configuration

The shoes are fun to create. I will have you create Bunny Slippers. They are also a good seller. You have these choices: None (no feet will be seen), Bunny Slippers, Cuban Heels, Flip Flops, Hiking Boots, Loafers, Sandals, Knee High Boots, and Ankle Boots.

Texture sizes are 256 x128 and 128 x 64. Use the higher res for this tutorial.

Click Finish and we are done with this section.

Do not close your StyleMaker please.

This is what your avatar will look like with these configurations.  Something to remember is that the wire frame is the part

of the texture map that will have your design painted on it. The area beyond the wire frame will not show up.
